The Great Lakes are the largest supply of fresh water in the world. As this water leaves Lake Ontario, the last of the Great Lakes, it begins it's thousand mile journey down the mighty St. Lawrence River. Here the water encounters a cluster of more than 1800 rocky protrusions known as the Thousand Islands. The twisting current threads it's way through a variety of passages, some so small that even a canoe could not pass. Like ancient fishermen standing along the shores, the Cedars and Pines cast their deep green shadowy nets upon the liquid mirror river, and create a stage of mystery and intrigue. While with the sternness and sobriety of a Buckingham Palace Guard, a great Blue Heron waits vigilantly on a stony perch.

Reproduced from an acrylic painting by Giclee printing directly onto canvas and coated with an ultraviolet protective spray. Black watch is the name of a dark green, almost black color.
