Winter is a
season of solitude. Nowhere is that poignant than northern New York on a
snowy gray afternoon in February. Alone in a rural old farmhouse,
every sound even silence has a melancholy echo. The winters here hard
as the people who endure them.
In a song by
Barbara Heller, she sings "it's not loneness it's solitude" but as my 57th.
winter approaches, i am seeing solitude more as a hammock under a tree with
a cool drink.
Reproduced from
a watercolor painting.
"The monotony
and solitude of a quiet life stimulates the creative mind."
Albert Einstein
