Designed by the men whose lives depend on them, the Monhegan skiff is both functional and aesthetic. In a rough sea, the distance from Fish Beach to your lobster boat can seem a lot further than it looks. This skiff has proven itself over the many years it has been in service and is legendary among seamen everywhere.

I was along the shore of Lake Ontario a few summers ago and was surprised to see a genuine, certified Monhegan skiff sitting in someone's yard.

Since there is no summer lobster season around Monhegan Island, the skiffs get a much deserved sabbatical; I found this one in July on Fish Beach sunning itself.
