Twilight brings a mellow harmony to Monhegan. The people, like the wind, subside into a peacefulness that sweeps over the island like an Atlantic fog. The bright colors of day become subdued in low key hues that get washed in glazes of dark blue grays. All over the island, an increasing number of glowing rectangles of yellow amber blast a burning hole into the approaching night. Flashlights dance along the rocky rugged roads like fireflies as people find their way to and fro. Soon the sounds of the island will diminish all except for the sea, with it's eternally restless heartbeat.
