I think of many of my paintings as allegories of life. And as life marches on, the pace of the world seems to be accelerating, sometimes out of control. In this chaos, a quest to find an inner sanctuary becomes more vital and relevant.
The sky and grass in this simple watercolor painting are built up of hundreds of small dry brush strokes laid in opposite directions, creating a turbulence that surrounds the three Adirondack chairs. This painting is about those sacred places where we go to be insulated and protected from the storms of life.
