Night divides the day.
The work for this painting began several years ago when I saw an Amish buggy coming down the road at night in a snow storm. I couldn’t help but wonder where they would be going at this time of night and in this kind of weather. I started work on the painting by gathering reference material and did some preliminary sketches I didn’t do anything with it until several years later when the Remington Art Museum invited me to create a work that was inspired by a painting by Remington. “End of the Day” has always been a favorite work by Fred so I thought this work had the same atmosphere and emotion. I finished the painting a few days before the exhibition that was in honor of Remington’s 150 birthday.
Reproduced from an acrylic painting on hardboard.
