When I am working on a painting, I keep my ears open hoping to hear a title. What I kept hearing was the Innkeeper. I guess that is because I couldn’t think of the Ocean House without thinking of Bud, the Innkeeper, whom I have known for many years. Come to think about, it all my paintings of buildings are really about the people that live or once lived in them. There must be some kind of energy or aura that connects to a place when someone has been there for a long time.
The Ocean House is located in Maine, at the end of route131 overlooking Port Clyde, a half block from the Monhegan boat dock. It offers ten rooms most with private bath and a great breakfast. Owned and operated by Bud and Joan Murdock from May through October. On the web at: www.oceanhousehotel.com
