I started this painting at the beginning of the winter of 2013, by the end of that winter I was thinking that I should have named it “Winter Scream”
But despite winter’s savage tenacity, the artist in me still finds beauty in the way nature transforms the landscape into a pristine crystal cathedral. There is a sensuous harmony as light weaves through the newly created mounds and curves of a frozen forest. One can take some comfort in that knowing that snuggled deep below in the shelter of mother earth, animal and plant life wait patiently ( more so than I ) for the dawn of spring and a new cycle of life to begin.
Reproduced from an oil painting by giclee printing.
