It is hard to think of Key West
and not imagine bright colors, maybe it's the tropical climate or the sun
drenched aqua waters. Or is it that glow that people get when arriving
from the great white frozen north? I'm not sure but it's hard not to
smile when I'm there.
This is a painting of the
schooner "Liberty" an 80 foot ship that makes port in Key West in the
winter and Boston in summer. Seen here in Key West on a return trip
from a sunset cruise, silhouetted against a blazing sky of exploding colors.
Reproduced from an oil painting
on hardboard.
