The inspiration for this watercolor emerged while cross country skiing on a track of state land near Lampson Falls on the edge of the Adirondack Forest.   It was a crisp day, the sunlight and shadows played hide and seek along the freshly drifted blankets of snow.  In the silence of the day, this old pine stump stood like a crumbling tombstone in the forest while new growth was emerging all around.  It was a composition of celestial magnitude.
