On a midwinter day with a heavy leaded sky, a desperate sun struggles to break free before being swallowed into night by the hungry horizon.  The farm house and out buildings stretch out across the landscape of this long horizontal format and bask and glow in the warm hue of a late afternoon sky.  This watercolor painting is the first in a series of limited editions to share this format.  This long horizontal shape was very popular among European printmakers near the turn of the century.
