This early winter watercolor landscape captures the magic of the first snow fall and the excitement of the holiday season starting with Thanksgiving. The simplicity of compositional elements gives many viewers a feeling of familiarity. There is also an element of curiosity as the eye is led down the road past the barn, one can't help but wonder what lies around the bend.

This painting was inspired by a scene on Route 16, near Winding Way, about 10 miles from Ottawa, Ontario.
