The seasons in the north have little respect for calendar dates.   The first day of spring is often just another solemn cold day with many more to follow before winter loosens its' grip on the land.  The neutral black and grays of the natural landscape blend harmoniously with the Amish philosophy.  Rich in value and texture, there is a restful serenity that is captured in this watercolor painting.   Spring is also a time of starkness.
