The word valley, for me, has always evoked a feeling of peace and
tranquility. Perhaps it is because a valley is formed by streams or rivers, and water has
always intrigued me. Or it could be that sense of unity, that one historically thinks of,
in association with a valley where houses and farms would cluster together to be near the
water and agricultural advantages.
Winter, by it's nature, has a way of isolating and in turn
enhancing a shared sense of community. This farmhouse is in the South Hammond area, a few
miles from the St. Lawrence River.
