I did this painting a few years ago and put it away and just forgot about it until recently when I rediscovered it and liked the subtle values that it displayed on foggy, misty, rainy day along the St. Lawrence River near the Lake of the Isles. Here is a poem by Tu Fu titled Morning Rain:
A slight rain comes, bathed in dawn light.
I hear it among treetop leaves before mist
Arrives. Soon it sprinkles the soil and,
Windblown, follows clouds away. Deepened
Colors grace thatch homes for a moment.
Flocks and herds of things wild glisten
Faintly. Then the scent of musk opens across
Half a mountain — and lingers past noon.
