There is an atmosphere in Key West that is unique. Perhaps it’s because it is the southern most point in the United States that you can drive to, or maybe it has something to do with the climate being tropical, the lowest temperature ever recorded there was forty-one degrees. There is an energy that one feels with a sixth sense, like animals knowing when an earthquake is about to strike.
Well whatever it is,
I feel this painting captures some of it. There is a menagerie of eclectic people that come here from everywhere, for some it is a destination others are just passing through, but they all leave an impression on the town that is like a glowing aura that resonates through the streets and buildings of the town.
Reproduced from an acrylic painting on hardboard.
