As a rule, the sunset seekers head for Lighthouse Hill or the less oxygen demanding rock behind the school house. The village dock is mostly abandoned, with the last day tripper boat long gone and the shadow of Manana stretching out to the shores of Monhegan. On this late summer night a couple head up the hill carrying the oars they used to ferry their dingy. It was a still night, with a hint of coolness in the air that foreshadowed the days that lie ahead.
Reproduced from an acrylic painting by giclee printing.
